Literacy and Language – Children are introduced to writing, letters and exploring sounds to prepare them for year foundation and to introduce them to early reading. – The children have been exploring languages, particularly Spanish. This was introduced to enhance the children with a Spanish background’s sense of belonging in the classroom and widen their knowledge on the world/cultures.
Mathematics – Children will explore the various concepts on mathematics including
counting. Measuring, length, and weight. Children will begin to explore money which
will introduce them to addition and subtraction.
Science/Technology – Children will engage in STEM experiences where they will be
encouraged to collect data and investigate. The children will collaborate to share
their information, problem solve and analyse the outcome.
Creative Arts – Children are encouraged to use their creativity to design unique
artwork using various materials and their imaginations. These art pieces are sent
home with families and displayed throughout the room.
PDHPE – Children will be encouraged to take responsibility of their own health
and physical well-being and will further develop their understanding of the human
body and knowledge on staying safe.
History and culture – Together the children will be exploring their family heritage, along with
promoting their understanding on the history of Australia. Children are introduced to learning various countries around the world as well as Australia. The children can share their experiences with each other and promote their understanding and respect for diversity.
Sustainability – The children explore sustainable practices through their day to day lives by caring for their environment and world around them. Educators plan sustainable experiences and provide the children with engaging life experiences such as caring for worms, chickens, and our compost bins to strengthen their knowledge surrounding sustainability.
Social Development – Children are encouraged to strengthen their social development through everyday interactions and experiences. Our classrooms are designed to support children’s social development due to the layout and learning areas, as well as how our programming and planning is implemented.
Independent skills – Children build their independent skills from such a young age and carry them through life as they get older. The children will explore many life skills and independent skills within the classroom such as making their own beds, toileting independently, dressing themselves, washing their own dishes, serving and cutting their own foods, and becoming responsible for looking after their own belongings.
